Description
The Volcano ObXidian nozzles from E3D are extremely wear-resistant and hard nozzles specifically designed for printing with fibre-filled polymers. The nozzles combine a copper-steel insert with the innovative E3DLC™ coating, which gives the nozzles non-stick properties. This special coating effectively minimises the accumulation of filament residue around the nozzle, ensuring its longer life.
The ObXidian nozzles are temperature resistant up to 300 °C.
What are ObXidian nozzles made of? The nozzles owe their incredible hardness to a special combination of materials and a unique manufacturing process. While the nozzle tip is made of hardened special steel, the rest of the nozzle is made of copper. A steel tube and copper thread complete the wear-resistant nozzles. A special DLC™ coating, developed in-house by E3D and customised at the atomic level, use the strength of diamond compounds to provide the best wear resistance for the nozzles.
Tip: The ObXidian nozzles have similar thermal performance to brass nozzles, making them their perfect drop-in replacement. The same slicer profiles as for brass nozzles are applicable.
Note: Nozzles with a diameter below 0.4 mm are not recommended for printing abrasive material.
