Description
Formfutura's Castable LCD Series - Castable Wax Resin is a pourable photopolymer 3D printing resin based on blue wax that is specially designed for compatibility and excellent processability with all types of open source LCD / LED / MSLA 3D printers.
The castable wax resin is a high-precision wax-based casting resin for 3D printing of direct investment castings for dental, jewellery and industrial applications. The wax component in this 3D printed resin offers a clean, ashless burnout and extremely low expansion factor, which ensures that the wax filler melts and shrinks out of shape without expanding, protecting fragile investments.
Castable Wax Resin has an exceptionally low shrinkage factor and produces printed parts with smooth surfaces and incredibly fine details. FormFutura's Castable LCD Series - Castable Wax Resin has been extensively tested and validated by both dental technicians and jewellers.
Key Features
- Ashless burnout
- Low expansion factor
- High dimensional accuracy with a low shrinkage factor
- Smooth printing with incredibly fine details
- Almost odourless processing
- Compatible with all open-source SLA, DLP and LCD 3D printers in the range from 385 to 405 nm
Applications
- Tooth shapes
- Jewellery shapes
- Industrial forms
Preparations Before Starting Printing
- Before use, make sure that the resin is at room temperature (20 ° C +/- 1 ° C)
- The wax component in the resin makes the resin more viscous at lower temperatures.
- Below 16 ° C, the resin solidifies too much and becomes too viscous for good 3D printing results
- Shake the bottle for at least 2 minutes before each use.
- After shaking the bottle, let the resin sit for 10 minutes to allow air bubbles to escape from the resin
- The resin can be poured back into the bottle from the vat once the printing is complete
- Always use protective measures such as safety glasses and nitrile gloves when handling resins.
Post-processing
- We recommend that you post-process your 3D print in order to achieve the material properties
- Rinse your 3D printed object in IPA or (bio) ethanol for about 5 minutes
- An ultrasonic cleaner is preferred/recommended
- Make sure items rinsed with IPA and/or (bio) ethanol are perfectly dry before further curing
- Place the purged parts in a well-ventilated area for at least 30 minutes or use compressed air for at least 2 minutes
- Cure your object in a high-performance curing chamber for approx. 20-30 minutes at 65 ° C
- The preferred curing wavelength is between 300 and 410 nm
Safety
Please always note that when you are 3D printing with resins, you are working with chemicals and should always be careful and use the personal protective equipment specified in our safety data sheets.
- Always wear respiratory protection when sanding/cutting the resin object.
- Always use nitrile gloves when handling resins and uncured resin items.
