Ronen Sharabani - Drawing, sculpture

With charcoal drawings and clay sculptures, Ronen Sharabani expresses the longing of the individual for a simultaneous experience of anonymity and intimacy. Interweaving movement, light and swiftness with density, compressibility and a palette of darkness, Sharabani's art illustrates the individual being captured into the crowd while aspiring to consolidate his self through the catharsis of the "new". It can be a rock concert, a mystical ritual, or the invention of a new brand.

"Sharabani's drawings are minimalistic, limited in detail, restrained and almost abstract, yet the use of charcoal allows a strong sensory promptness. Potential energy is latent in the drawing while the dusk colors suggest an almost violent reality. The density and concentration of the crowd, and the center of the scene, brightened nearly out of sight, create a strong feel of the masses' excitement of the unknown." (Marie Chek, quoted from the catalogue)
