Liron Lupu - Painting

"Nevermore" presents an unexpected, exotic, "Pop Zionist" gallery of colorful portraits inspired by political figures and public events that have left their mark on collective and personal memory. Revisiting American pop art and French narrative figuration with a strong mix of humor and impertinence, Lupu paints historic icons such as Jabotinsky, Arlozorov, Begin, Cahana, Beitar football players or the Holyland project.

Exhibiting a loud, disharmonious contrasted palette, the works remind us children's book illustrations, painted photographs or early political posters. They interweave dream and nightmare, transporting us into a surreal world, a twilight zone of fragile identities, at once familiar and uncomfortable.
